Dogman
Another high school fav. Pound for pound, one of the greatest hard rock, Christian bands to walk the globe. Lead singer Doug Pinnick has awesome set of pipes that at times sounds very Hendrix-esque - check out Manic Depression. And Ty Tabor's guitar pickin' makes me want to smack my mama.
Definitely one of the most memorable live concert experiences of my life. (Thanks, Atrain for keeping me awake during our drive back at 3 in the a.m.) If the sovereign people of this blog decided to do a list of our top 25 songs of all time, Dogman would be there proudly pumping a fist in the air.
On a side note, I went on the band's website and checked out their tour dates. It said they are currently touring with Skid Row. (You can't see me, but I'm giving you the rock hand symbol.)

YES! Not only do we have the first appearance of the X, (and trust me, now that I'm posting, not the last) but this confirms in my mind that I am not crazy - Jon Stewart really did have a talk show in the mid-90s. I remember watching with friends in high school and thinking "This guy is really funny"and then when the daily show hit it big thinking "there's something familiar about that really funny host" but I always wondered if i had just imagined it.
i guess a quick search on YouTube or Wikipedia could have put my mind at ease, but sometimes it's best just to preserve the mystery, you know?

and regarding this choice, i feel it is appropriate. i mean, they're also one of the top 100 rock bands of all time...according to vh1. to not list their masterpiece would be like talking about the history of art without mentioning the mona lisa.
i just wish they kept putting out great music. don't get me wrong. their new stuff is decent, it's just...new. guess we all have stories of such things happening to the loves of our musical lives.
and while dogman is probably their best, i still have a special place for ear candy. go ahead and rake me over the coals, but that album is so freaking fluid. i can listen to it in any mood and smile--even when you find out doug's brother is on crack, his sister's a wreck, his mom, she tries, and his father is lies. after all, every one of us loves every one of us...

I totally agree with everything, although I would place Faith, Hope, Love before Ear Candy. I found out that King's X performed a show about 4 months ago at Gatsby's in downtown Johnson City, but I didn't find out about it until 3 weeks after it was over. King's X was 10 minutes away... and I was probably at home watching King Of Queens reruns.

Yeah, you could have been watching Scrubs re-runs. Tough loss.
